I did some quick calculations and see that it took about 9 months to get 5,000 posts, 18 more months to reach 10,000 and about 38 more months to reach 15,000.

I stopped posting on this board a long time ago.

Main reason being that nobody seems to know who runs the Walrus.

I just dont like that. There seems to be something inherently
dishonest about running a board where people pour out their
hearts and talk about very personal experiences yet nobody knows who the operator is.

I believe the people behind this board have a moral obligation,

We have had some problems on our board with people posting obscene and even pornographic information. Others have even just attacked peoples views at every opportunity, which is not what this board is all about. We have banned these people from this board. I am not referring to individuals who delete post, but to post that entirely vanish, even topic threads vanish.

Is it possible to stop people from "editing" their messages after a certain time?


Most boards give 24 hours. Then youcant edit.


Here, we have people deleting AND ALERTING messages that are integral to the development of certain ideas, on certain threads.

I have noticed that now you FORCE some topics to stay at the top of the forums. It is my humble opinion that this does not help at all. It was much better before -- restrictions, rules, limitations, impositions, and, of couse, "shoulds" only take away the spontaneity of the dialogue. It would be even better if the forums would arrange themselves automatically sending the one with the last posting to the top.
